About the counsellor
Irene Teo 张艾琳 (MBACP)

I am from Malaysia, a multicultural country shaped by many faiths and traditions. This has given me a deep respect for diversity and a sensitivity to how culture, identity, and belonging shape our stories.
Living in the UK as a Malaysian Chinese has further strengthened my cultural awareness and deepened my understanding of how migration, adjustment, and identity changes can affect emotional wellbeing. This perspective allows me to support clients from a wide range of backgrounds with warmth, sensitivity, and respect.
I speak English and Mandarin, so we can work together in the language that feels most natural to you.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Theology and Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). My work with Bereavement Care and Place2Be has given me extensive experience supporting adults, young people, and children through trauma, loss, anxiety, relationship struggles, identity questions, and faith-related concerns.
我出生并成长于马来西亚,一个多元文化与宗教并存的社会。这样的背景让我对文化差异、身份认同与归属感有深刻的理解,也帮助我更敏锐地看见这些因素如何影响个人的心理经验与生命故事。
我能以英语和普通话提供辅导,并会使用让你感到最自然的语言进行会谈。我是英国 BACP 注册会员,拥有多年工作经验,服务范围包括创伤、哀伤与失落、焦虑、身份认同议题,以及与信仰相关的困扰。我亦曾在 Place2Be(儿童心理健康机构)担任学生辅导员,与儿童及青少年工作。
作为一名整合取向的辅导员,我结合以人为本、心理动力学、完形、认知行为取向(CBT)及创意治疗方法,并根据你的需要与节奏,灵活调整每一次会谈的方式。
我的工作核心在于理解「你经历了什么」,而非评断「你有什么问题」。我相信,在安全而被理解的治疗关系中,创伤经验可以被整理、整合,而人也能重新建立连结感、方向感,以及内在的希望。
